First Assistant District Attorney
Sam Sanguedolce currently serves as the First Assistant District Attorney. He is a graduate of the University of Scranton where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Sam went on to graduate from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University where he obtained his Juris Doctorate. In 2002, Sam joined the District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney concentrating mostly on criminal prosecutions involving drug trafficking and firearms-related offenses.

Throughout his career as a prosecutor, Sam has handled approximately 50 jury trials with over a dozen homicides, including being lead prosecutor in the infamous case of Commonwealth v. Hugo Selenski where the prosecuting team obtained a double homicide conviction.

As First Assistant, Sam supervises all prosecutors responsible for representing the Commonwealth in all criminal court proceedings and related matters. He oversees the Accelerated Rehabilitative Program (ARD) and Expungement, as well as continues to prosecute specific cases assigned by the District Attorney and assisting in supervising the office as its second in charge.
