System of Care - The Ethics of Dual Relationships

Full Description

The Ethics of Dual Relationships (3 hours)

Goal:

Dual relationships seem easily understood on the surface but ultimately they pose the greatest challenge to those in the recovery field. The issue is related to boundaries.  The boundary lines that seem clear can become blurry over time and shift relationships beyond the professional.  Further, there are numerous occasions where boundaries were never clarified to begin with. This workshop will consider how professional relationships shift over time. Further it will define dual relationships and challenge participants to check their own professional boundaries.

Objectives:

                                Participants will:

  1. Define ethics and dual relationships.
  2. Consider the strength of personal and professional boundaries.
  3. Practice methods for clarifying and strengthening boundaries.
  4. Review regulations specific to dual relationships.
