Trails are one of our best assets and meander throughout the entire County. There has been an extensive investment by the county, the federal government, and local municipalities in the creation of hiking trails. One of the largest investments has been The Delaware and Lehigh Trail which starts in Bristol PA and travels 165 miles and upon its completion will terminate in Wilkes-Barre. The D & L Trail was created by re-purposing old railroad and canal lines of our historical past. Looking for a trail to hike or bike? Find the perfect trail for you at visitluzernecounty.com.
The seventy-six local municipalities in Luzerne County provide an impressive number and variety of parks and recreation areas. These fine community parks, of every size and description and of every quality - from good to exceptional - are often within easy walking distance or a short bicycle ride for the municipality's residents. The dozens of municipal/community parks that are located throughout the county provide convenient places for our children to play and connect with their friends and companions.
