Magisterial District Judge's Offices
The Magisterial District Courts of the 11th Judicial District are dedicated to the fair, impartial, efficient and economic administration of justice and resolution of disputes. Core values include accessibility, fairness, accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the community.
Jurisdiction
Luzerne County maintains sixteen district courts strategically located throughout the county. An elected Magisterial District Judge presides over each of the individual district courts. The district courts serve as the initial tier of Pennsylvania's Unified Judicial System. Our District Courts maintain jurisdiction over:
- Civil claims where damages do not exceed $12,000
- Criminal preliminary arraignments and preliminary hearings
- Landlord / tenant suits
- Municipal code violations
- Summary criminal offenses
- Traffic offenses

Online Payments
The PAePay Online Case Payment site allows the public to securely make payments on cases and payment plans in the Magisterial District Courts. All major debit or credit cards accepted. Convenience fees apply.
The nCourt payment system allows payments online and by mobile device, all major debit or credit cards accepted, payments may also be made in District Court offices or via phone by calling 1.844.400.8880. Convenience fees apply.

Street parking is available as well as a small lot across the street. Parking is also available at the Water Street Parkade which is one block away.

Free Public parking is available in the Water Street Parkade Located just off North Street (before crossing the Pierce Street Bridge).
There is a short pedestrian tunnel crossing North Street providing access to the Courthouse rear/handicap entrance. This entrance opens at 8:00am.
