Courthouse Elevator

An excerpt from “The Luzerne County Court House,” The American Architect, September 15, 1909:

The elevator equipment consists of two plunger elevators with a maximum load capacity of 3,000 pounds each. The pumps are driven by 25 horsepower dc motors automatically controlled. The building is heated and ventilated by a fan-blast system, all the air being cleaned by air washer before entering the fans, and the temperature in all the rooms being automatically controlled by a thermostatic regulation system.
