Community & System Partner Involvement

The Office of Public Defender is committed to working with local agencies and human service providers to become knowledgeable about the services offered for our clients in the community.  These efforts allow our clients to receive the most effective and individualized services available to meet their needs. Staff periodically travel to treatment providers and meet with local service providers to ensure that they have current awareness and familiarity of the programs offered.

The Office of Public Defender also attends frequent meetings with the Courts, county department heads, prison management, pre-trial and re-entry services providers, treatment court professionals, mental health and drug & alcohol treatment providers and local and county agencies to discuss ways to improve the Luzerne County criminal and juvenile justice systems. The Office staff also provides community outreach by participating in lectures and presentations offering input, perspective, training and guidance to community members and professionals with regard to our Office’s role in the justice system.
