Visiting Rules  

Professional visits are permitted during business hours on a first come first serve basis for all approved visitors.

Personal visitation is currently not available due to limitations in the visiting area of the facility. There is a new visiting plan that will be implemented with a projected start date of September/October 2023. Please check back for further details.

What days and time can I Visit an inmate?

  • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian
  • Parents must have a Photo I.D. and the child’s birth certificate and social security card
  • Legal guardians must have a Photo I.D. and guardianship papers for the child, and the child’s birth certificate and social security card
  • All visitors must have a Photo I.D. and two legal forms of I.D. (ex. Social security card and birth certificate)
  • No tobacco products, lighters, cell phones, cameras or recording devices, food, gum or drinks are allowed

Inmate Book Request Procedures

  • All books and magazines need to have prior approval from the Administration Office before they are sent in
  • If there is no approval slip and unapproved book is sent in, it will be sent back to the sender
  • The Luzerne County Division of Corrections is not responsible for any fees that may occur due to books or magazines being returned to sender
  • All books must be soft cover and sent directly from the publisher, Amazon or Barnes and Noble
  • Book requests can be approved via in-house mail to the Administration Office

Inmate Personal Property Release Procedures

  • Inmate personal property will only be released if all personal property is released
  • Personal property will not be split up and released to different individuals
  • Only exception to this policy is articles of clothing
