Wright Township was incorporated in 1851 and currently covers a 13.9 square mile area with over 27 miles of township roads.

According to the 2010 Census, the township has a population of 5,651.  Residents are provided with full time police protection, roads/public works services, as well as planning/zoning, recreation, recycling and volunteer fire and ambulance services.

The following are located in the township: a 35-acre recreation park consisting of a playground area, basketball and tennis courts, baseball field, soccer complex, walking trail, plaza, ice hockey rink and sprinkler park – seasonal recreation programs are available along with a 6-week summer program for 6-12 year olds; Wright Manor – a 30-unit apartment building for the elderly with dining/meeting/activities room; the 1,050 acre Crestwood Industrial Park consisting of manufacturing and warehousing and employing over 2,000.  Also, located in the Crestwood Industrial Park is a compost recycling center for yard waste which is opened for residents of Fairview and Wright Townships on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
