Laflin Borough was incorporated in 1889 and covers a total area of 1.4 square miles. Primarily a residential community, it is situated midway between the cities of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton.
The government operates under a Council/ Mayor form of government under the Borough code. There are seven Council Members and a Mayor. Meetings are open to the public and input from residents is welcome.
Laflin Borough is a product mostly of the Laflin Powder Mills that are within the borough. This industry represents seven mills and necessary works scattered along the hollow of the Gardner Creek.
