Commissioner Tucker Fills Seat Vacated by Former Commissioner Todd A. Vonderheid
(Wilkes-Barre) - Former Luzerne County Commissioner Rose S. Tucker took the Oath of Office as Luzerne County Commissioner on June 22, 2007, before a large crowd of well-wishers in the rotunda of the Luzerne County Courthouse. Commissioner Tucker was appointed by the Luzerne County Court en Banc to fill the unexpired term on the Luzerne County Board of Commissioners which was left vacant by the resignation of former Commissioner Todd. A. Vonderheid. The Oath of Office Ceremony was attended by sitting Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak, and Commissioner Stephen A. Urban. Master of Ceremonies was Luzerne County Public Information Officer Kathy Bozinski.
Luzerne County President Judge Mark Ciavarella administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner Tucker, as her granddaughter, Ashley Tucker, held the same Bible used during the Oath Ceremony for Commissioner Tucker whe she was first elected to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Tucker's daughter, Valerie Berzanski, and son, John Tucker stood at their mother's side during the ceremony.
Commissioner Tucker, a resident of Exeter, served as Luzerne County Commissioner from 1992 through 1996. Her present term will conclude at the end of 2007.
