Luzerne County Wins 3rd Annual Commissioners Challenge Blood Drive Commissioners Challenge Blood Drive a Huge Success!
(Wilkes-Barre)- The results are in, and Luzerne County has won the 3rd Annual Commissioners Challenge Blood Drive between Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties. Wednesday’s drive at the Luzerne County Courthouse brought out 90 donors, who provided 76 units of productive (useable) blood. The companion drive at the Lackawanna County Administration Building brought out 64 donors, who provided 54 units of productive (useable) blood. Luzerne County Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak thanks all the residents and County employees who donated blood during the drive, and congratulated the Commissioners and donors of Lackawanna County for their formidable effort. “The spirit of competition was a great way to bring out blood donors,” said Commissioner Skrepenak, “but in this case everybody wins, by knowing their donations will “give the gift of life” to others who really need it.” The Commissioners Challenge Blood Drive Traveling Trophy will remain in the Luzerne County Courthouse Rotunda for another year. The 4th Annual Challenge Drive will be held the first week of September, 2006.
