Luzerne County Commissioners and Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the NAACP Hold Martin Luther King Day Celebration

(Wilkes-Barre)-On January 19, 2007, the Luzerne County Commissioners in partnership with the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the National Assocation for the Advancement of Colored People celebrated the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday with a special celebration in the Rotunda of the Luzerne County Courthouse.  The evening event was hosted by Luzerne County Public Information Officer Kathy Bozinski. Luzerne County Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak, and Commissioner Stephen A. Urban presented Wilkes-Barre Chapter Vice President Larry Singleton with a resolution proclaiming "Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Luzerne County."  Commissioner Skrepenak also administered the Oath of Office to newly-elected officers of the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the NAACP.  The celebration of Dr. King's life and legacy was highlighted by a number of stirring and spirited musical numbers performed by the Men's Choir of the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Wilkes-Barre.
