Commissioner Gregory A. Skrepenak Presents Check for $100,000 during Junior Achievment's "BizTown" Opening Week
(Pittston Township)- Luzerne County Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenek recently visited the Northeast Pennsylvania Junior Achievment Mericle Family Center, to present a check for $100,000 to further advance JA's unique "BizTown" experience. He joined about 70 children from Wycallis Elementary School in the Dallas Area School District, who spent weeks of classroom preparation learning about economic concepts and understanding entrepreneurship, before visiting the JA "BizTown" to put what they'd learned to practical use. Commissioner Skrepenak observed the youngsters hard at work in stores, newspapers, radio stations, banks and restaurants, all sponsored by local members of the business community. The Commissioner ceremonially presented the County's allocation to BizTown's "mayor" for the day, before formally presenting it to the Executive Director of Junior Achievment of NEPA, Kathleen Matthews.
