Commissioner Skrepenak Welcomes Students to a Day of Fun, and Learning Skills to Lead Better Lives
(Nanticoke) - Dozens of students from high schools all across Luzerne County converged on the Luzerne County Community College Campus on May 15th, 2007, for the annual Youth Symposium sponsored by the Luzerne County Juvenile Probation Department and the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program. Luzerne County Board of Commissioners Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak welcomed the young people to the symposium titled "Taking Yourself to the Next Level," which featured seminars on building skills to avoid drug and alcohol use, dealing with bullying, and developing better relationships, along with a number of entertainment activities, including an adventure-climb. Luzerne County President Judge Mark Ciavarella underscored the symposium's anti-drug message, and made a special presentation to Juvenile Probation Officer Theresa Kline, who helped coordinate the symposium.
