Commissioners Proclaim "Telecommunicator's Week," Congratulate 911 Center on Award for Outstanding Service During February Snow Emergency

(Hanover Township) - Luzerne County Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak and Commissioner Stephen A. Urban visted Luzerne County's 911 Center on April 11th, 2007, to proclaim April 8-14, 2007 as "Telecommunicator's Week in Luzerne County.  Receiving the resolution on the telecommunication floor of the 911 Center were Luzerne County Director of Public Safety Alan Pugh, and Luzerne County 911 Center Coordinater Phillip Veet. Also at the event, the Commissioners commended all  911 Staff Members on the work they do each day, and applauded them for recognition they received for outstanding performance during the snow emergency on February 14th, 2007. The Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers presented the Luzerne County 911 Center with it’s "President’s Award" for Outstanding Service during the 2007 Valentine’s Day Storm. The award cites the 911 Center employees, saying they “worked diligently to overcome the events resulting from the closures of Interstates 80 and 81, and worked in a professional and efficient manner to provide not only for the safety and welfare of the county's residents, but also for the individuals stranded in miles of traffic on the highways."
