Courthouse Ceremony Celebrates All that Residents with Intellectual and Development Disabilities Can Accomplish

(Wilkes-Barre) - The Luzerne County Commissioners have declared March 2007 as "Mental Retardation Awareness Month" in Luzerne County.  The resolution was delivered on the Commissioner's behalf by Luzerne County Public Information Officer Kathy Bozinski, who hosted the annual Mental Retardation Awareness Ceremony at the Luzerne County Courthouse on March 5th, 2007.  Self-Advocates Sherri Pudim and Ed Orloski, who are clients of the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties MH/MR Program did excellent work reading the resolution to the crowd of fellow clients, service providers, and program staff.   Remarks were made by Antionette Cisowski, Administrator of the Luzerne -Wyoming Counties MH/MR Program, as well as Pamela Zotynia, Executive Director of the ARC of Luzerne County.  A highlight of the event was the showing and sale of the imaginative artwork created by program clients.
