Luzerne County Commissioners Rename Recreation Complex In Honor of Retired Long-time Recrecreation Director

(Forty Fort) - Luzerne County Commission Chairman Gregory A. Skrepenak and Commissioner Rose S. Tucker formally rededicated the Luzerne County Recreation Complex at Forty Fort on August 23, 2007 as the "J. Charles Fields"  in honor of John Charles, Luzerne County's former Director of Recreation.  Mr. Charles spent nearly 30 years in the Luzerne County Recreation Department before retiring in 2004.  He is largely responsible for the development of the Forty Fort recreation complex. During his tenure, he also devoted a great deal of effort in developing recreational activities and programs for developmentally disabled residents. During the recent ceremony, which was attended by his family, friends, former co-workers as well as elected officials from all across Luzerne County, Mr. Charles unveiled the new sign bearing his name at the entrance to the complex along Wyoming Avenue.
