TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Multi-mile trail and bike route system that will combine off-road segments with bike lane markings, improved sidewalks and signage oriented to pedestrians and bicyclists.

The City of Wilkes-Barre Trails and Greenways Master Plan will identify trail/greenway routes in the City of Wilkes-Barre that connect the riverfront area, D&L Heritage Corridor trails and other area trails, such as the Luzerne County National Recreation Trail, city parks, schools, senior facilities, and health care facilities. The Master Plan will be developed by the City of Wilkes-Barre, in partnership with community organizations such as the Anthracite Scenic Trails Association (ASTA), Pennsylvania Environmental Council, and the Wyoming Valley Wellness Trails Partnership, as well as with input from the general public. The Master Plan will build on documents such as the ASTA feasibility study for the Black Diamond Trail Ridge to River Connector, the Visioning efforts of the downtown Diamond City Partnership, and Pennsylvania State University’s 4th Year Architecture Students’ Visions for the City of Wilkes-Barre, published 2007.
