TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Multi-mile trail and bike route system that will combine off-road segments with bike lane markings, improved sidewalks and signage for pedestrians
and bicyclists.
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council has received funding from Luzerne County, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Sordoni Foundation to prepare a Trail/Greenway Master Plan for the Greater Kingston Area including Edwardsville, Forty Fort, Larksville, Luzerne, Kingston and Swoyersville. This project will connect the Back Mountain Trail, Luzerne County Levee Trail System, Susquehanna Warrior Trail and the West Side Trail as well as provide connections to area parks, schools, senior citizen facilities, and health care facilities. The scope of work will not only identify local important destinations, but will also identify recreation needs of community partners.
