Update of Long Range Transportation Plan
Every 4 years, the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) must be updated according to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Regulations. Although an Interim LRTP was developed and adopted in 2007, a more comprehensive update is being done in conjunction with the preparation of the Bi-County Comprehensive Plan.

2010 Pennsylvania Transportation Community Initiative Program (PCTI)
The Lackawanna/Luzerne MPO received 15 applications for the 2010 PCTI round requesting over $1 million in funding. The applications were reviewed by the Luzerne County Planning Commission staff, the Lackawanna County Regional Planning Commission staff, PENNDOT District 4-0 staff, and some members of the MPO Transportation Advisory Committee.
Based on this evaluation, and the fact that there is only $24 million available statewide, the MPO is submitting the top three construction projects and one planning study project to Central Office for consideration.
